KidzArt: 2011 in Review
Author: Sue Bartman CEO
Despite the declining economy, KidzArt/Art Innovators is proud to have achieved growth in many areas during 2011. As parents continue to make their children’s education a priority, many of our franchisees grew and accomplished goals and noticeable firsts.
Further International Expansion
Responding to an increase in demand for children’s creative educational services globally, KidzArt/Art Innovators added four new international franchise partners to our enterprise. Saudi Arabia, Malta, Canada and the Philippines are now part of our growing list of worldwide locations. People around the world recognize that children with creative thinking skills possess a mindset that will thrive in our fast-changing world and KidzArt/Art Innovators is pleased to lead the charge on this endeavor.
Early Art Ed in Demand
KidzArt/Art Innovators saw the demand for our Squiggles to Grins program double in 2011. Squiggles to Grins is, at first look, an art class for an adult (mom, dad or caregiver) with a child from the age of 2 – 3 1/2. Yet on second look you see a structured class that concentrates on sensorimotor skill development through fun movement, music, songs and touch of varying art textures.
Squiggles curriculum helps students acquire intellect, knowledge, focus, and skill sets they will need in school. The various segments of the 45 minute to 1 hour class, by design, help students hold and expand attention time, thoughts, and actions. School readiness skills are also enhanced through the socialization and interaction within that fun group. All of this leads to an improved kindergarten experience.
In 2012, KidzArt/Art Innovators looks forward to continuing to build on our strengths and expand our marketplaces to bring art to children everywhere.

Author: Sue Bartman CEO
Small Business Saturday takes place this Saturday, November 26th. Sponsored by American Express Open, the campaign’s goal is to drive shoppers to local merchants throughout the US to help increase revenue, create jobs, boost the economy and improve their communities.
According to the Small Business Administration, over the past 20 years, 65 percent of net new jobs have been created by the nation’s small businesses. By spending money at your locally owned stores and businesses, you can help the sector that’s been hit the hardest by the recession.
American Express is enticing consumers to buy local by offering a one-time $25 statement credit when you register an eligible American Express Card and use it to make a purchase of $25 or more on Saturday.
So be a patron of small independent stores and don’t forget about all the service based businesses. Businesses, like your local KidzArt, have gift certificates for unique products and services that might have you going back regularly!
The hope is that Small Business Saturday will create a general awareness of locally owned businesses that will elevate sales both on the 26th and throughout the holiday season.
How to Get Kids Back into School Learning Mode
Author: Sue Bartman CEO
Getting the new school year off to a good start can help children’s attitude and overall academic performance. By providing stimulating, learning activities, parents can help kids transition back into a learning mode more easily. Part of getting our kids ready for the new school year is to prepare their brains. After the unstructured months of summer, it helps to exercise your kids’ imaginations and creativity to prepare them for the new school session.
Here are some ideas: Try breaking out the art supplies and create an art center somewhere in your home where the kids can freely draw, paint, sketch and color. Using arts and crafts supplies, recycled materials, and other household items, ask the kids to: make a sock puppet, create a collage by gluing dried food such as cereal, pretzels, crackers, etc. on to poster board, write a story and sketch illustrations go with it, or draw a picture using their non-dominant hand.
By being able to explore their creativity, children can exercise skills which can strengthen their academic abilities and readiness for the new school year.
Programs like KidzArt make art and learning fun for kids but that’s not all. KidzArt also creates opportunities for kids to communicate, brainstorm and express themselves which can be a great way to get the school year started.
Art gives children to ability to actively create which can improve cognitive development, strengthen communication and expressive skills and boost reasoning and organization skills. Art is just one of the many creative activities that can help children keep their brains warmed up for back-to-school excellence.

KidzArt in Kuwait Recommended for an Embassy Honor
Author: Sue Bartman CEO
A Note from the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait
I attended a ribbon cutting ceremony event for KIDZART in Kuwait. The event included 6 educational groups for kids at the Avenues premier mall for the weekend. About 300 were in attendance. The KidzArt owner, Mrs. Somaya Al Walayti, told me she and her two friends were not content to let their offspring sit in front of computers or TV. They searched for a franchise that offered “edutainment ” for Kuwait children. They found that Franchise in Texas and have brought KidzArt, a fun approach to art, to Kuwait.
I was fascinated by the concept and charmed by the local Franchisee Somaya. She and her two college classmates promote an educational diversion for Kuwait’s growing under 20 population. I visited a “edutainment” event on Feb 6 and noted that there were lines of parents eager to enroll their children in KidzArt classes.
I have recommended Somaya and her partners for an Embassy honor.
Warm regards from the Arabian Gulf,
Nancy Charles-Parker
